Spring BREAK!

Friday I headed south with the kids to kick off Colby's spring break! Our first stop was lunch with our friend Casey. My mom met us and we had a great time and delicious Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches. Casey is refinancing our house so we had to talk a little business--but it was so fun! Colby decided to go with grandma after lunch and Jolie and I went to The Living Planet Aquarium to meet Tina. I didn't get any pictures, but Jolie LOVED the aquarium. She climbed all around and splashed in the petting pool and everything.

After the aquarium I went to get my hair cut! I love hair cut day. I cut it short this time--an A-line with blond highlights. Luckily Brett said he liked it. I like it too. THEN I met my mom and all my sisters at the South Jordan rec center to go swimming. The kids had a blast. They played and played and played AND played. To finish off the night, we went to La Luna for dinner...fue muy delicioso!

Saturday my mom and I took Colby to the airport, Hayley came too! Colby was so excited to go see his dad and family in Spokane. He had snacks, his DS and some books to read and plenty of attention from a nice flight attendant. He got there just fine and said that, "it was more fun than a regular flight." LOL! I was glad that he enjoyed himself and that he made it safely. What a big boy. We went to The Cheesecake Factory for lunch and had a fabulous time. It was excellent as always. I highly recommend the Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake--it was killer.

Some other highlights were IKEA for a couple hours with Tina, breakfast on Sunday with Eddy, a visit to Grandma and Grandpa Kalawaia's, and hanging out with my mom. I also stopped at this bakery called The Old Gristmill in Brigham City--it was great. Now I'm back in BF just playing with Jolie!

I just re-read this post and realized that every paragraph involves food. I guess we're a little deprived of choices here in Blackfoot. (Maybe that's a good thing for my wallet and my waistline)!

New Hair Cut

Look Who's Talking!

It seems like Jolie's language skills are taking off. She will randomly repeat us now and she has quite a cache of words that she uses regularly. Some of the latest ones are: Naughty, potty, book, baby, cookie, Meatloaf, loaf, oof, money, eye, nose, moo, candy, and ought oh. She also said her first sentence which was, "I want my mommy!" We also got some big magnetic alphabet letters and she will repeat what they are when we tell her. She's so big.

Jolie knows where her head, belly, nose, hair, bum, mouth, teeth, feet and toes are. She is really funny and she definitely knows how to throw a good fit! She adores her brother and she has her daddy wrapped around her little finger! I'm glad that she's my little pal/sweetheart. She is a joy and great company.



Jolie will be 17 months on the 30th. She loves to take baths, blow bubbles in the tub (with her mouth), play with Bubba, give Meatloaf HUGS and KISSES, brush her teeth, color with crayons and markers, and eat cookies.

Happy Birthday Scooter...

My friend Kaylyn at Downtown Bread Company sent me a referral a couple weeks ago for a cake. This nice lady was visiting from Florida for a truck sale at 20th Century Dodge and she wanted to order a cake from someone locally, so Kaylyn sent her my way. Anyway, she said that Scooter loves strawberries and cheesecake so we came up with this...It was a vanilla cake with fresh strawberry cream filling and it was frosted with a cream cheese based frosting (kind of like Tirimisu filling). The birthday script is chocolate on white chocolate. I don't know Scooter, but I really hope he liked his cake!

Pinewood Derby 2009

Colby was so sick last week. It started with a headache and a fever Sunday morning, so he missed church. Monday he still had the fever and by that evening he had a sore throat, stomach pains and diarrhea! I thought it might be strep throat, so Tuesday morning we headed to the pediatrician's office. It wasn't strep--just a crazy virus! He missed the entire week of school and his fever finally broke on Friday. He was so tired and weak from not eating very much and from just being sick, that he stayed home Friday too. I got all of his homework but he really didn't feel up to doing it until Saturday. We felt really bad for him! He's been so healthy all year and then BOOM...a whole week of the flu.

Anyway, Thursday night was the Pinewood derby and we went with hopes that Colby would feel okay and win some races. Colby didn't look like he was having fun at all--it was sad! He did four races and we went home so he could go to bed. His car wasn't as fast this year and because he didn't get to race as many boys he lost against both of his competitors. That made me feel bad for him too! You just hope as a mom that they'll win at least one or two! He was a good sport about it though and we got his certificate and called it a night. When Colby started shivering at the end (with his coat on), we knew we had to go home! He is fine now and went back to school yesterday. Now Jolie has the fever!

Pretty Little Girl

Nikkei (Colby's other mother) bought Jolie this beautiful little dress for Valentine's Day. She wore it to church today and I just loved everything about it--especially the little puffed sleeves. I had a hard time getting her to hold still for a picture, but just looking at her made me smile. I do love dressing up a little girl. Thank you Nikkei, you are so thoughtful and we appreciate all you do for our family!
